Shamed Police Officer used Taser on Pregnant Woman

Police officer used taser on pregnant lady on Nov 18, the FBI are investigating the incident. According to the Trotwood Public Safety Director Micheal Etter the woman arrived to police station to give up the custody of her one year old son. One of the officer assisted the lady and asked her for some information relating to the woman and the one year old child. She refused to provide and information and she seemed nervous.

According to the CCTV footage she tried to leave with the child. The officer grabbed her coat in an effort to stop her. According to director the officer was doing what he thought was in the best interest of the one year old child and the lady. He also said that the police didn’t know that she was pregnant. She was struggling with officer, the officer took the child and gave it to another officer. After that he forced the woman on stomach on the ground and used taser on her neck.

According to officer the woman didn’t disclosed that she was pregnant while being arrested. When she was talking with officer she was wearing large winter coat and they boy was in her lap. There is an ongoing internal investigation to see if the use of force was warranted in this situation. The woman said that she was “unjustly served”. After the incident the custody of the one year old child was given to one of her family members.

It seems from this shameful incident that the pregnant women should not have disclose to the world that she was pregnant. I guess the best way will be to wear a badge saying I’m pregnant. So she is treated with care. In other words we don’t have women rights which means that to treat the woman with respect and dignity is just in books and not put into practise. We should think how difficult the situation was for the officer to tackle the situation.

I don’t think that there was any need for the taser to be used to control her. But still some law enforcement officers think that when they have the badge they don’t have to care about the rights of the citizens and the above mentioned incident is the evidence for that. I know these are rare incidents but still why do these rare incidents occurred? That is the question.

If it did happen, let us shame it so that in the future this incident is not repeated again.
